UK Term-Time Salary Calculator
Calculate pro rata pay for a school, college or other term-time role paid for fewer than 52 weeks a year.
(25 hrs ÷ 37.5 hrs) × (44.6 ÷ 52 weeks) × £30,000.00 = £17,153.85
How term-time salary is calculated
Term-time pay normally has two parts: your fraction of full-time weekly hours and the fraction of the year for which you are paid. This calculator multiplies those fractions by the full-time annual salary.
Use the paid-weeks figure written in your contract. It can vary by employer because holiday pay and local arrangements may be included differently. The result is a gross estimate before tax, pension and other deductions.
Example
A £30,000 full-time role at 37.5 hours, worked for 25 hours a week and paid for 44.6 weeks, is calculated as: 25 ÷ 37.5 × 44.6 ÷ 52 × £30,000 = £17,153.85.
Part-time workers should not be treated less favourably than comparable full-time workers without objective justification. Read the official GOV.UK guidance on part-time worker rights and check your employer's contract and payroll policy.
